BACH IN THE CAVES

Lest you wonder that this review, and of one or two other recent concerts, should end with tales of standing ovations and repeated encores it is worth noting that these were all well-deserved by world class and well-travelled classical musicians performing under the banner of The 37th Canary Islands International Music Festival.

TOMMY TAKES HIS OWN SWEET TIME

A quiet, deliberate, wonderful final point closes the incredible career of Thomas Lee Flanagan, who everybody called Tommy, and who passed away on November 16th, 2001 he was A pianist whose ego was dwarfed by magnificent capabilities.

CANADA DAY celebrated with music at the beeb.

All those memories are from a past growing more distanced and dimmer by the day. I´m very relieved that the breadth of the BBC music archives help me keep the memories revived and in some sort of chronological order. In fact, though, looking back on their archives on July 2nd 2021 was like looking the wrong way through a telescope with even the most recent of acts looking like a visitor from some far distant star.
