SECRET PLACES OF LANAZAROTE

Lately, in conversation with journalist Norman Warwick, I recalled my recent visit to Florence where, I viewed on the Uffizi Gallery crowded pavement, the displayed replica/copy statue of the original  David by Michelangelo. Thanks to the fine art degree educated guide, I learned something momentous, provocative and mind-altering about the beauty in the naked human form.

OLD (AND NEW)  FRIENDS shine like diamonds

It was whilst browsing through one such telephone box library that the English speaking Mr. Brady pulled out a book by Swiss-German speaking but Spanish based Rita Schmid. He somehow managed to discover that she lives here on Lanzarote, and he wrote to her to express how much he loved her poetry and the serendipity surrounding his discovery of it in a phone box out in the  UK fields.

SONGS OF MAJESTY

In celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday in 2016, the monarch had a number of special requests on her party-playlist. A longtime fondness for musicals since many made their way from Broadway to the West End of London in the 1940s—everything from Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun—the Queen’s musical tastes also spanned the big bands of the 1930s and ’40s like Lester Lanin and World War II melodies of the era to the 1951 Irving Berlin-penned Fred Astaire hit “Cheek to Cheek” and songs honouring the commonwealth, including created by perhaps Andrew Lloyd Webber and Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band’s “Sing,” written for Her Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and featuring the Military Wives Choir.

THE KEY TO BEING,…… Productive

With his degrees in the humanities he has retained the ´different view´ that enables him to recognise and convey structures and relationships within organisations. It was in December 2010 that Dr. Bensmann was appointed honorary professor for communications and organisation development at The Osnabruck University Of Applied Sciences. He believes that, in addition to theoretical and methodology, appreciation and trust as the basis for successful support of individuals and organisations undertaking processes of change.

HARMONY ON A HICKORY WIND

Houston is described as a frontier-rough town with icehouses selling beer by the gallon on payday, pest infestations right out of a horror film, and the kind of freedom mischievous kids dream of, in Chinaberry Sidewalks, Rodney's tribute to his parents and his remarkable youth. Full of the most satisfying kind of nostalgia, it is hardly recognizable as a celebrity memoir. Rather, it's a story of coming-of-age at a particular time, place, and station, crafted as well as the perfect song.
