Ingrid Jensen (left) has been blazing a path in the jazz world since before she even graduated from Montreal’s McGill University in 1994. While completing her undergrad studies in jazz performance, the saxophonist and composer penned songs for the debut album of her sister, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, and the resultant Vernal Fields won a Juno Award. Recorded on November 2, 1995, at the King of France Tavern in Annapolis, Walkin’ After Midnight documents the much-missed vocalist alongside an unusual lineup, accompanied only by Chris Biondo on bass, Keith Grimes on electric guitar, and guest violinist Bruno Nasta, adding a fresh dynamic to the performance.

I always noted the vocals of Jesse Colin Young whenever I heard his music on tv or radio. Their music didn´t quite fit, at that time in the seventies, into my idea of what became Americana but I was certainly aware that he and his band, The Youngbloods were held in high regard by the media I regarded as good advisors.
