Pokey LaFarge (left)<\/em><\/strong> independently released his first album,\u00a0Marmalade<\/em>, in 2006.\u00a0During the same year, he toured with\u00a0The Hackensaw Boys<\/a>. His second solo album,\u00a0Beat, Move & Shake<\/em>, was released in 2008 by\u00a0Big Muddy Records<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Riverboat Soul<\/em>, the first album with The South City Three, was recorded in July 2009 at the Nashville studio of producer Phil Harris using vintage instruments and electronics. It was released in 2010 by Free Dirt Records<\/a> and won the Independent Music Award for Best Americana Album. The group’s second album, Middle of Everywhere<\/em>, won the same award in 2011. The band released Chittlin’ Cookin’ Time in Cheatham County<\/em> produced by Jack White<\/a> for his label Third Man Records<\/a>. White asked the band to collaborate with him on the song “I Guess I Should Go to Sleep” for his album Blunderbuss<\/em><\/a>, followed by opening for him on tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2013, LaFarge signed with Third Man Records and released his first album on the label, the eponymously titled Pokey LaFarge<\/em>, accompanied by a larger band that included Chloe Feoranzo<\/a>, Matthew Meyer, and T.J. Muller. During the next year, he signed with Rounder Records<\/a> and released Something in the Water<\/em> in April 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017 his album Manic Revelations<\/em> was released on Rounder Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On January 22, 2020 LaFarge announced the release of a new album called Rock Bottom Rhapsody <\/em>which was released on April 10 on the New West label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LaFarge released his seventh studio album, In the Blossom of Their Shade<\/em>, on October 15, 2021. On February 13, 2024 LaFarge announced the release of a new album called Rhumba Country<\/em> to be released on May 10, 2024 on the New West label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, St. Louis singer-songwriter Pokey LaFarge has released the latest single from his forthcoming album, Rhumba Country<\/em>. The record is set to release on May 10 via New West Records, and \u201cOne You, One Me\u201d follows lead track \u201cSister Andre.\u201d \u201cOne You, One Me\u201d is quintessential Pokey, as he merges doo-wop hijinks with mid-century country sensibilities. It contrasts the summery soul of \u201cSister Andre\u201d with a more brooding, time-worn distinction while remaining all rich and vibrant all the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LaFarge says of the single that it is a  \u201cSummertime love song. Longing for a getaway or a remembrance of a honeymoon. When it was Cocktail hour. Swim trunks beneath a linen suit. A sweet drink with spicy food. Hotel house band in paradise. An understanding that with all we have, we have more than we deserve so we rejoice and sing in gratitude,\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
