However, almost immediately after we had gone to press I learned I had actually comae late to the party !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2-19.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17935\" width=\"120\" height=\"119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2-19.jpg 149w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2-19-80x80.jpg 80w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2-19-36x36.jpg 36w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2-19-120x120.jpg 120w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2-19-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 120px) 100vw, 120px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>So, let me apologise and give you a slightly more accurate account.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/tag\/zach-bryan\" target=\"_blank\">Zach Bryan<\/a>&nbsp;has made&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/tag\/billboard-music-award\" target=\"_blank\">Billboard Music Award<\/a>&nbsp;(BBMA) history as the first country artist to win Top New Artist in the history of the awards. Bryan beat out J<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/tag\/jelly-roll\" target=\"_blank\">elly Roll<\/a>, <strong><em>(right<\/em><\/strong>)  Bailey Zimmerman,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/tag\/ice-spice\" target=\"_blank\">Ice Spice<\/a>, and Peso Pluma for the Top New Artist win. The country singer and songwriter also picked three awards in the rock categories, including Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album for&nbsp;<em>American Heartbreak<\/em>, and Top Country Song for his 2022 hit \u201cSomething in the Orange.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/3-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17936\" width=\"182\" height=\"148\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with his win for Top Rock Song for \u201cSomething in the Orange,\u201d Bryan was nominated a second time in the category for&nbsp;\u201cI Remember Everything,\u201d featuring&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/tag\/kacey-musgraves\" target=\"_blank\">Kacey Musgraves<\/a>. <strong><em>(left)<\/em><\/strong> Bryan is also up for Top Male Artist and is up against Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, which would also be another first for a country artist winning in the category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His other 2023 nominations include Top Male Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Male Country Artist, Top Country Album for&nbsp;<em>American Heartbreak<\/em>, and Top Streaming Songs Artist. He was also nominated in the new BBMA categories Top Hot 100 Songwriter,&nbsp;and Top Hot 100 Producer, which was awarded to Joey Moi earlier in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/4-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17937\" width=\"435\" height=\"645\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/4-6.jpg 674w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/4-6-202x300.jpg 202w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/4-6-475x705.jpg 475w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/4-6-450x668.jpg 450w, https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/4-6-600x890.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p> Released in May 2022, Bryan\u2019s third album&nbsp;<em>American Heartbreak<\/em> <strong><em>(righjt)<\/em><\/strong> &nbsp;went to No. 1 on the&nbsp;<em>Billboard&nbsp;<\/em>Top Country and Top Rock Albums charts, while single \u201cSomething in the Orange\u201d topped the Country and Rock charts, and peaked at No. 10 on the&nbsp;<em>Billboard&nbsp;<\/em>Hot 100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017, Bryan began uploading his music on YouTube and went viral with his song \u201cHeading South.\u201d The Oklahoma singer and songwriter released his debut album&nbsp;<em>DeAnn<\/em>\u2014dedicated to his late mother\u2014in 2019, and follow-up to&nbsp;<em>Elisabeth<\/em>, a year later. Both albums were released while Bryan was still active in the U.S. Navy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bryan recently released his fourth eponymous album in 2023, which went to No. 1 on the&nbsp;<em>Billboard&nbsp;<\/em>200, Country, Rock, and Folk charts. His Musgraves collaboration from the album, \u201cI Remember Everything,\u201d also topped the&nbsp;<em>Billboard<\/em>&nbsp;Hot 100, along with the Country and Rock charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Weaved into the 34 tracks of&nbsp;<em>American Heartbreak<\/em>, \u201cSomething In The Orange\u201d talks about a longing love and heartache, but it was mostly inspired by a stunning sunset Bryan caught one night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEveryone thinks it was over some deep, dark thing, and it was just me in a cabin in Wisconsin,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/fi\/podcast\/zach-bryan-is-it-something-in-the-orange\/id1576358106?i=1000578793608\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said Bryan<\/a>. \u201cI thought about the word \u2018orange\u2019 and I was watching the sunset and I was like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s a cool story to tell in a song.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the song, the narrator has come to terms with the end of the relationship, though he still tries to fool himself into thinking there\u2019s still a glimmer of hope<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S<em>omething in the orange tells me we\u2019re not done<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>And I\u2019m damned if I do and I\u2019m damned if I don\u2019t<br>Cause if I say I miss you I know that you won\u2019t<br>But I miss you in the mornings when I see the sun<br>Something in the orange tells me we\u2019re not done<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>To you I\u2019m just a man, to me you\u2019re all I am<br>Where the hell am I supposed to go?I poisoned myself again<br>Something in the orange tells me you\u2019re never coming home<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metaphorically, the sunset, \u201cThe Orange,\u201d stands for the end of his love affair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you leave today, I\u2019ll just stare at the way<\/em><em><br>The orange touches all things around<br>The grass, trees and dew, how I just hate you<br>Please turn those headlights around<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two versions of \u201cSomething In The Orange.\u201d There\u2019s a more somber, stripped-back \u201cSomething In the Orange\u201d recorded at Electric Lady Studio in New York City and produced and mixed by Eddie Spear, dubbed the Z &amp; E (stands for Zach and Eddie) version. The second is a sweeping rendition with strings and piano, produced and mixed by Ryan Hadlock at Bear Creek Studio in Washington State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Produced by Eddie Spear, Louie Nice, and Ryan Hadlock and written entirely by Bryan,&nbsp;<em>American Heartbreak<\/em>&nbsp;is a culmination of five years of songs inspired by the artist\u2019s life and love with other hits, including \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/behind-the-meaning-the-good-ill-do-zach-bryan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Good I\u2019ll Do<\/a>,\u201d \u201cHighway Boys\u201d and the chart-topping \u201cFrom Austin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"204\" height=\"192\" src=\"https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/5-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17938\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p> \u201cSomething In The Orange\u201d also reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also nominated for&nbsp;a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would say true love of anything is supposed to rip your heart out and put it back together all in the same go-round,\u201d said Bryan on the meaning of the album in a statement. \u201cThis album to me is all the trials we face day in and day out and I wrote all the stories on it hoping someone, somewhere might relate or some kid might pick up an instrument and replicate it in an effort to be an artist.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bryan added, \u201cSome songs are sad, some are happy, some are hopeful, and some are hopeless, all of them mean something different to me and I pray they mean something to someone else.&nbsp;<em>American Heartbreak<\/em>&nbsp;is my effort at trying to explain what being a 26-year-old man in America is like.
