English Folk Expo have announced<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music Industry Training For Artists<\/strong>  Saturday 15th October
 Presented By The Featured Artists Coalition<\/strong>   The Manchester, taking place at HOME on Saturday 15 Oct 2022. Artist:Entrepreneur Day from FAC and CMU returns to English Folk Expo in Manchester.
Hosted by artist entrepreneurs from the Featured Artist Coalition, and with a team of music industry experts on hand to offer practical advice, A:E Day will show artists how to build a business around their music, including their music rights, live performances and direct-to-fan relationships. Attending artists will also get to meet professionals from across the industry, and understand how to find and choose a team of providers and partners to support their artist business.   <\/strong> Tickets cost just \u00a310 + a \u00a31 booking fee.<\/strong>  
The day runs from 10.00 to 15.30 at Home, 2 Tony Wilson Place, M15 4FN and includes a light lunch, coffees and teas. Meanwhile the September’s Official Folk Albums Chart has been announced, featuring a new top seller and eight other new entries that demonstrate the breadth of music to be found within the wider folk genre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ther new number 1 is the self-titled first-time solo debut album of Marcus Mumford (left)<\/em><\/strong> , of Mumford & Sons, out on Island, a searingly honest album that notably deals with newly revealed childhood abuse.  Featuring artists including Phoebe Bridgers and Brandi Carlisle, the album was also borne out of changes in Mumford & Sons and the upheaval caused by Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New at number 3 is ‘For The Night’ (Elephant Sessions) the fourth album by Scottish Highlands band Elephant Sessions (right)<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Combining trad, funk and electronica, described by Sound Cafe as, ‘blend of intricate tunes and engulfing guitars, with a bass and drum heavy backline.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Folk Radio says of the album, ‘By using water and wind power, in an energy revolution supported by the local people and much of the album sets out to do just that..’ Also making it into the top 10 at number 10 is fellow Scottish band Fara (left)<\/em><\/strong> with ‘Energy, Orkney now produces more than 100% of its energy needs and is now faced with something of a unique dilemma \u2013 what to do with that surplus energy? It\u2019s a triumph that deserves a celebration<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other new releases making it into the top 40 include Jackie Oates’ (right)<\/em><\/strong> ‘Gracious Wings’ (Needle Pin) at number 17 much of which is inspired by family bereavement and her current studies in music psychotherapy, and Siobhan Miller’s ‘Bloom’ (Songprint Recordings) at 18, with album guests including Kris Drever, Eddi Reader, Louis Abbott and Ian Carr.

At 37 Tarren’s ‘Revel’ (Tarren) brings together English folk names Alex Garden, Sid Goldsmith and Danny Pedler. while at 38 is John Dhali’s ‘IN TIME LP’ (Deep Beach Music), a lesson in delivering joyful and upbeat mainstream singer-songwriting from an artist on the rise.

Our final new entry is Ranagri’s ‘Tradition II’ (Ranagri) at 40.  Look out for this Anglo-Irish line up on tour this autumn supporting Tony Christie<\/p>\n\n\n\n
