Saxophonist Konrad <em><strong>(left)<\/strong><\/em> and pianist Brian Kellock may be a relatively new pairing but their repertoire gives these two masters the chance to explore jazz standards and spontaneously create fresh excitement.&nbsp; That is the latest publication to approve the album, describing it as a \u00e1 sublime and compelling cross-cultural conversation\u00b4.&nbsp; The group plays the Old Hairdressers in Glasgow on Thursday 18<sup>th<\/sup> August and then two nights at The Jazz Bar in Edinburgh on the 19<sup>th<\/sup> and 20<sup>th<\/sup> of the month before going across to Dunoon Burgh Hall on Sunday 21<sup>st<\/sup> August for a 3.00 pm start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"256\" height=\"197\" src=\"https:\/\/aata.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11028\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile Beacon Jazz Club continues to present leading musicians on the Scottish scene, and August\u00b4s guest is singer Louise Dodds <strong><em>(left)<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; Her current album is the intriguingly titled The Story Needs An Ending and has been warmly received with glowing reviews.&nbsp; Jazzwise described it as \u00b4strongly cathartic\u00b4 and the Scotsman also enthused about Louise delving so deeply into her own life experiences.&nbsp; You will be able to hear and judge for yourselves when Louise takes her quartet to The Beacon Arts Centre on 25<sup>th<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only are there positive stories of live jazz music in the UK at the moment but there is also heady success for one of our favourite Jazz Radio programmes, Hot Biscuits, presented by our friend Steve Bewick, <strong><em>(below right)<\/em><\/strong>  a regular contributor to these pages.&nbsp; He broadened his horizons to TV and recording sessions and orchestral work.&nbsp; He has also developed a career as a musical director and arranger, his credits include many West End shows including \u2013 \u201cBubbling Brown Sugar!, \u201c42<sup>nd<\/sup> Street\u201d, \u201cBarnum\u201d and \u201cJoseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ken has also been personal accompanist and director for Dame Vera Lynn, the late Roy Castle and singer Vince Hill.&nbsp; He has always had a keen interest in \u201cclassical music\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This very experienced musician with a long successful musical career spanning 40+ years, playing alongside Alan Grahame will surely provide another very special night at this great venue.&nbsp;
